Another Truth

This explains why I always feel weird when the congregation claps after the choir sings...saw this on a blog I was reading.


Upon the last verse of song, my parish immediately breaks into applause as if a performance just ended, followed by a loud social gathering within the pews. No consideration that they are before the Lord, and the Lord is within them.


Would they do the same if they were actually standing at the foot of the cross before Jesus? Guess what folks, that’s exactly where they are! How many of them realize this?

Sad But Very True...

Sad news today...

A good friend lost her child today during birth.  My heart aches as I think how it must feel to lose a precious gift and know you will never get the chance to do so many things you had prepared for.  I pray that God's grace will be with them as they cope with this difficult news.  I hope the healing begins very soon.

Mt 18:21-35

Today's Gospel reading is very powerful.  Jesus leaves no doubt that if you do not forgive your brother then you are going to receive the same treatment in kind from the Lord.  Unequivocal.  It's a great parable.

Marriage and the Eucharist

I had no idea how the two are related.  We have "dumbed" down the covenant of marriage so much from what the church teaches; it's amazing.  No wonder we are in the mess we are in socially.  If we all held marriage in the esteem and reverance that the church teaches, wow could things be different.

1st Post

There's always got to be one, a first post.  As I dig into the catholic faith and learn about the church, I will try to post and share things here that have been helpful to me.  My hope is that it will be useful to others as well.
